Once you join the club it is expected you would attend this free course. Queensland 4x4 Club bylaws state that all participants of trips above a medium rating must have successfully completed this course or have a National Accreditation Certificate (Drive and Recover a 4WD Vehicle). The Driver Awareness is available free to financial members of the Queensland 4x4 Club only.
The aim of the short program is to ensure a common basic level of driver awareness and skill to ensure the safety and enjoyment of club trips. It ensures that our members have had the same structured training and are at the same competent level of 4WDing. Members that have previously attended the training are more than welcome to attend again in order to refresh or hone their skills in a controlled environment.
The Driver Awareness program is run on-demand within the local area. The program runs for one fun-filled day, theory aspects in the morning then a drive to practice the theory components learnt. It covers the following topics:
- 4WD Knowledge and Theory
- Pre and post-trip vehicle inspection
- Stall start techniques
- Recovery techniques
- 4WD Driving Skills
Dates for these courses will be listed on our trip calendar, to register please log on to the club Web site and register your name against the training or alternatively on a trip sheet at a club meeting. If more information is required, please contact the Club Training Coordinator.
